the chinese students sports federation sent a total of 2 men's teams and 2 women's teams to participate in the competition. the men's teams are from beijing university of aeronautics and astronautics and yanbian university, and the women's teams are from shanghai sport university and beijing normal university.
the eight men's teams are divided into the following groups: yanbian university, doha university of science and technology in qatar, university of macau, and thammasat university in thailand are in group a; kyungil university in south korea, tribhuvan university in nepal, beijing university of aeronautics and astronautics, and taibai university in saudi arabia are in group b. the four women's teams are shanghai university of sport, asia scholars college in thailand, beijing normal university, and kalinga institute of technology in india.
in the opening match held on the 17th, the yanbian university team and the thammasat university team of thailand drew 1:1.
liu lixin, president of the asian university sports confederation, said that this is the second time that china has hosted the ausf football asian cup. he hopes that the contestants will take the competition as an opportunity to surpass themselves, achieve outstanding results, make friends through football, deepen exchanges, and contribute their youthful strength to promoting mutual learning among asian civilizations and peaceful development.
yanbian is one of the earliest regions in china to develop football and is known as the "hometown of football". during the event, the organizing committee will organize visits and other activities to allow participating college students to appreciate yanbian's economic and social development achievements, historical and cultural heritage, and folk customs.
