“old” oil fields gain “new vitality”
born after 1985, zhang zilin has become the youngest technical chief in the shale oil fracturing innovation team of shengli oilfield petroleum engineering and technology research institute. he is responsible for the research of full three-dimensional simulation technology of shale oil fracturing and the optimization test of pilot test wells.
"shale oil is like a thousand-layer cake," zhang zilin described. "oil and gas are the butter and powdered sugar sandwiched between the cookies." his job is to use fracturing technology to "break up" the rock formations and then reconstruct artificial channels to extract the oil and gas.
in order to break through the difficulties, zhang zilin and his colleagues innovated shale oil fracturing simulation technology and developed a simulator. during the research process, it is necessary to continuously program and digest new experimental data. in the process of promoting innovation, we must make full use of the achievements of predecessors and continuously promote technological innovation based on the predecessors.

as an experienced technician who has been working on the front line for 37 years, feng xinyong has independently completed 139 innovative achievements and obtained 10 national invention patents and 59 utility model patents.
in shengli oilfield, there are more than 7,000 vertical belt pumping units. this type of pumping unit is popular for its long stroke, slow stroke, energy saving and high efficiency, but the displacement of the pumping unit has always been a problem. traditional operations rely on four people to pull the guide chain, which only moves more than 20 centimeters per hour; using special vehicles to pull the device can easily lead to inaccurate displacement of the pumping unit and even cause oil leakage at the wellhead. the new vertical belt pumping unit displacement device developed by feng xinyong and his team has completely changed this situation.
"this device is equivalent to installing a 'steering wheel' on the oil pump," he explained. now, even two female workers can move the more than 10-ton oil pump smoothly and accurately by just turning a wrench.
“old” oil fields take on a “new” look
the sea is the main battlefield for shengli oilfield to increase reserves and production, and it is also the top priority for safety and environmental protection.
to achieve green development, the chengdao center no. 1 platform of shengli offshore oilfield (hereinafter referred to as "platform no. 1") has always adhered to the environmental protection concept of "no oil entering the sea, no water being discharged, and no gas going into the sky".
in the early production of platform no. 1, natural gas turbines were used to generate electricity for its own power supply. however, this power supply method had problems such as low basic efficiency and high voc (volatile organic compound) emissions.
in order to reduce energy consumption and achieve green production, in recent years, the no. 1 platform has begun to use shore power in an all-round way, supplying electricity through submarine cables. compared with traditional power supply methods, shore power has the advantages of high power generation efficiency, less environmental pollution and low economic cost.
"wherever there are oil and gas production equipment and facilities, there will be oil booms. if there is leakage under extreme circumstances, we will make sure the oil falls on the deck and never into the sea," said kong jian, director of platform management in the sea area management zone. on platform no. 1, all the oil booms are closed without any gaps, "not allowing a single drop of oil to flow into the sea."
when it rains, in order to prevent rainwater from washing away the equipment and flowing into the sea, all the rainwater on the platform is recovered into open tanks through floor drains, and then transported back to land in a closed manner for centralized treatment on land.
in the guangli river forest wetland park in dongying city, the oil pumps, oil storage tanks, photovoltaic panels and other facilities in the liuhu oil production management area of ​​the xianhe oilfield of shengli oilfield have become a unique landscape in the eyes of tourists.
liuhu oil production management area manages 261 oil and water wells, with an annual crude oil and gas production of 264,700 tons. the noise from the oil pumps here is only 30 decibels when in operation, which is quieter than the sound of cicadas in the park. photovoltaic panels are installed in the idle areas of the well site. when the weather is good, the photovoltaic panels can generate enough electricity to meet the power needs of the oil pumps, and can also transmit the surplus electricity to the national power grid. the annual emission reduction is equivalent to planting 800 trees.
injecting "new" power into "old" oil fields

in 2011, zhang zilin graduated from xi'an shiyou university with a degree in petroleum engineering and joined the fracturing institute of shengli oilfield petroleum engineering technology research institute. in august 2013, zhang zilin received the design task of the shengli oilfield salt 227 "well factory". this was the first time that shengli oilfield tried to construct a "well factory" with a new four-in-one design concept, which was a huge challenge for him.
"i stayed on the well for 34 days without going home and completed 89 sections of horizontal well fracturing, which was a record in sinopec at the time." this experience became an important milestone in zhang zilin's growth.
