air defense sirens sounded in tel aviv and other places in central israel that morning. the israel defense forces announced on the communication software "telegram" platform that shortly after the sirens sounded, "a surface-to-surface missile was detected flying into the central region from the east and falling in an open area. no injuries were reported."

the israeli army later added that the missiles were fired from the direction of yemen. the explosions in the area involved came from the israeli army's missile interception system, and "the interception effect remains to be determined."

since the outbreak of a new round of israeli-palestinian conflict in october last year, the houthi armed forces in yemen have repeatedly used missiles and drones to attack israeli targets, and attacked ships "related to israel" in the red sea, arabian sea and other waters. on july 19 this year, a houthi armed drone attacked tel aviv, killing one person and injuring many others. the israeli army then launched a retaliatory air strike against the houthi armed forces.
