on september 13, the 2023-2024 national reading excellent project experience exchange meeting hosted by the central propaganda department was held in urumqi, xinjiang. the list of candidates for the 2023-2024 national reading excellent project promotion work was announced at the meeting. among them, the "beijing october literature month" project submitted by beijing publishing group was selected.

as one of the highest honors in the field of national reading, the promotion of outstanding national reading projects is organized by the central propaganda department. every year, outstanding projects are selected from hundreds of projects submitted from all over the country to explore the sustainable development model of reading activities and fully reflect the "national nature" of national reading activities. a total of 20 projects were selected this year.

beijing october literature month is a city-wide literary theme event hosted by the publicity department of the beijing municipal committee and other units, supported by the china writers association and the china book review society, and hosted by the beijing publishing group. it is widely participated by the national literary and publishing circles and other social sectors as well as readers. october literature month is held from september to october every year. since its establishment in 2016, it has been successfully held for eight sessions. october literature month focuses on the main business of literary publishing, and integrates literary resources around literary creation, literary publishing, literary dissemination, literary reading, literary criticism, and literary transformation. it improves the quality of activities and innovates the form of activities. it plans new ideas, launches new measures, and achieves new results in promoting the creation and dissemination of literary masterpieces, literary exchanges and cooperation, literary promotion and popularization, and cultural cross-border integration.

during this year's 9th beijing october literature month, the professional literary criticism magazine "beijing literature and art review" was launched, and a number of heavyweight works such as "i love beijing", "i and the altar of earth" 2024 collector's edition, and "white dew and spring equinox" met readers in a concentrated manner. at the same time, it gathered new readers, cultivated literary reserve forces, and held a series of reading experience activities for young people and general readers, so that literature and reading can truly penetrate into the hearts of the people.
