since ancient times, chinese people have had endless imaginations about the universe. more than 2,000 years ago, qu yuan looked up at the sky and asked "heavenly questions". on october 15, 2003, the sky welcomed the first chinese visitor, yang liwei. on september 12, the educational documentary program "hello, teacher!", jointly produced by the audiovisual new media center of china media group and the teacher work department of the ministry of education and supported by the "teacher education collaborative quality improvement plan" project, was launched on the cctv video app. let us follow the footsteps of yang liwei, the space hero and deputy chief designer of china's manned space program, listen to his story with his teacher, and review the development of china's manned space program.
reviewing the exploration of china's manned spaceflight
planting the "space dream" for children
at 9:00 beijing time on october 15, 2003, yang liwei flew into space on the shenzhou v spacecraft, realizing the chinese nation's thousand-year dream of flying into space, and the chinese people left their footprints in the vast space. since then, my country has become the third country in the world to independently send humans into space.
in june 1983, yang liwei passed a rigorous screening and became a student at the chinese people's liberation army air force flight academy. after graduating in 1987, he was assigned to the air force fighter aviation corps as a pilot. in 1996, the superiors wanted to select reserve astronauts from the active pilots of the air force. with his extraordinary qualities and skills, yang liwei became one of them. however, the transformation from a pilot to an astronaut requires extremely cruel "devil training". every training session means vomiting and diarrhea, difficulty breathing, and congestion of the eyes and nose... in this way, after 5 years and 6 months of training, yang liwei's comprehensive score ranked first in the final evaluation of all the astronauts' learning and training courses. in 2003, after layers of selection and assessment, the manned space engineering command finally determined that yang liwei would be the first astronaut to fly.
"21 hours and 23 minutes, this is the time i stayed in space, and it is also an indelible chapter in my life. i was lucky to have the guidance of many good teachers and helpful friends. i hope that what i learned and felt can also be transformed into strength and passed on to the children." in this episode, yang liwei brought a unique "space classroom" to 30 primary school students at the china science and technology museum. he took the children to visit the "shenzhou 1" return capsule, experience the "three-dimensional rolling ring", and sat in the simulated return capsule to explain the relevant knowledge of the shenzhou spacecraft to the children. standing in front of the chinese astronauts' signature wall, yang liwei explained to the children the development process of china's manned space flight. from shenzhou v to shenzhou xviii, the chinese people's pace to the stars and the sea has never stopped. behind each chinese astronaut are countless chinese astronauts such as engineers, scientific researchers, astronaut instructors, etc. who continue to struggle, and they silently contribute their own strength to china's space industry. yang liwei: "one by one, the 'space teachers' sow the seeds of space dreams in your hearts. i also hope that in the future, there will be figures of you on the signature wall."
recalling the moments of growth
thank you to my former mentor
yang liwei once said, "there are two important teachers in his life, one teacher taught him to be down-to-earth, and the other teacher taught him to fly to the sky." yang liwei gave the children an open class with the theme of "hello, teacher!" and recalled the good teachers he met during his growth. in 2003, when yang liwei successfully completed his mission and returned to his hometown, he immediately returned to his alma mater, suizhong county central primary school, to see teacher wang suying. he said that this is where he "took off". when yang liwei was in primary school, teacher wang suying not only taught him knowledge, but also taught him how to be a good person, how to be thrifty and help each other.
during his flight learning stage, he also had an enlightenment teacher. yang liwei said frankly: "without teacher zhao on the ground, i would not have flown into outer space." this teacher was his former flight instructor zhao chengliang. during yang liwei's flight career, teacher zhao gave him great support. in the eyes of "student" yang liwei, zhao chengliang is a versatile person who is particularly good at playing and singing. he is also a national referee for multiple sports, a first-level basketball referee, and a "national first-level referee wearing a flight suit." yang liwei once described zhao chengliang as follows: "he is very strict with himself and with us students. he does not just say it, but uses his actions and his dedication as an example to tell us that we must love it and devote ourselves to it." teacher zhao chengliang also often uses his spare time to practice with students. yang liwei recalled that once the teacher put a simple simulator on a cart and asked them to sit in the simulator. the teacher pushed the cart behind them to let them experience the operation of flying and taxiing. under the scorching sun, the training lasted for most of the day. this thing made yang liwei unforgettable.
yang liwei also sent his best wishes to the two teachers during the program: "i am very lucky to have met countless good teachers like you two in my life. it is you who have inspired many of my passions and enabled me to fly into the blue sky and have the courage and ability to soar into the sky. your influence on me will also continue in every chapter of my future life."
the stars have dreams, and no matter how thrilling the journey is, it is hard to resist passion and sincerity. behind every passion, there are always unknown "guides". on september 12, tune in to the cctv series "hello, teacher!" to experience yang liwei's space dream and the teacher-student relationship on the road to pursuing his dream.
