the hong kong tennis association (hkta) announced on september 11 that chinese tennis legend li na will serve as the tournament director of the "prudential hong kong open 2024" and announced four participating players.

li na is the first chinese player to win a singles grand slam title, having won the 2011 french open and 2014 australian open. she has won a total of nine wta singles titles in her career, establishing her legendary status in chinese sports.
regarding her new role, li na said: "hong kong's traditional culture and prosperous modern city are impressive. players and fans can enjoy top international tennis matches while experiencing the unique charm of asia's event capital. i look forward to witnessing world-class female players competing on the same court, and hope to use my own experience to help the participating players break through themselves and achieve success."
this wta 250 international tournament will be held from october 26 to november 3. the latest announced players include two-time grand slam winner and former world no. 1 simona halep, british no. 1 bolt, american star collins and this year's wimbledon quarterfinalist and new zealand player sun lulu. in addition, defending champion fernandez, former us open champion raducanu, paris olympic mixed doubles silver medalist wang xinyu, and chinese players yuan yue and wang xiyu will also participate in this event.
