baghdad, september 11 (xinhua) -- iraqi president rashid and prime minister sudani held talks with visiting iranian president pezerhiziyan in baghdad on september 11. the two leaders exchanged views on the israeli-palestinian conflict and the regional situation, and signed a memorandum of understanding covering cooperation in multiple fields.

pezehiziyan arrived in baghdad on the same day, starting his first official visit since taking office as president in july this year. according to a statement issued by the iraqi presidential palace on the same day, rashid said during the talks that iraq is willing to enhance the level of cooperation between the two countries in areas such as counter-terrorism and border security, and work together to ease regional tensions. he also said that climate change is a prominent issue facing both countries and the world, and the two sides should reach an understanding on the issue of water resource sharing.
