according to reuters on september 11, a pro-moscow military blogger said that russian troops have begun a major counterattack against ukrainian troops who invaded western russia last month and have recaptured some territory.

yuri podlyaka, a ukrainian-born pro-russian military blogger, and two other well-known bloggers said russian forces had launched a major counterattack in the kursk region, the report said.
"in the kursk region, russian troops launched a counterattack on the enemy's western flank, reducing the ukrainian control zone along the (kursk oblast) border," one blogger said in his blog.
podlyaka said russian forces had recaptured several villages in the area occupied by ukrainian troops and pushed ukrainian troops back to the east of the malokhnia river south of snagost.
the report noted that the russian defense ministry's report on the battle revealed little information. ukraine also had no immediate comment.
