china taiwan network reported on september 11 that the 2026 "nine-in-one" county and city mayor elections on the island have already begun. according to taiwan's "china times news network" report, an exclusive taiwanese media poll showed that in taipei city, the dpp's possible candidate and legislator wang shijian has the highest support among possible candidates of the same party with 34.5%. however, if he faces the current taipei mayor jiang wanan of the kuomintang, he will lag behind jiang wanan's 53.7% with 32.3% support.
