only a thought of the fraud gang

in march this year, the public security authorities discovered a gang using short video platforms to divert traffic and live broadcast through the wechat mini-program platform. they used fake jadeite raw stones prepared in advance as props, controlled the cutting structure, and defrauded money from live broadcast viewers in the name of "gambling on jadeite". on march 23, zhang and 13 other suspects were arrested.

the criminal gang headed by the suspect zhang is divided into four live broadcast teams, with members serving as front-end fan-attracting anchors, customer service, back-end fraud anchors, assistants, cutters, central control operations, and water army. the front-end fan-attracting anchors first broadcast live or post videos on short video platforms, and attract fans by selling jade polishing materials at low prices and giving small gifts. after a fan follows or comments, the customer service takes the opportunity to add the fan's wechat and privately recommend a small program specifically used for "gambling on stones" live broadcasts to the fan, thus kicking off a "killing customer" gambling game.

according to lao zhang, the warehouse manager in the team, there are three kinds of "fake materials" in the warehouse, namely "double-headed materials", "fake leather materials" and "synthetic materials". "double-headed materials" are made by splicing two pieces of raw stone materials with one end of poor quality and the other end of good quality. the anchor can control the increase or decrease of the cutting through "double-headed materials". when the victim finally steps into the trap, the "killer" anchor begins to slowly tighten the "rope". in the first few rounds of "carpooling", the anchor will buy back the raw stones of the "carpooling" at a price slightly higher than the selling price, allowing the victim to occasionally make a small profit. after tasting the "sweetness", some victims choose to "charter a car for one person", that is, to buy a piece of raw stone by one person, and the result at this time is bound to be "cut down".

the fraud gang was prosecuted

after investigation, it was found that the live gambling group led by zhang and others used prop stones to control the gambling results and committed fraud, involving a total amount of more than 10.24 million yuan, and the victims who have reported the case suffered a total loss of more than 2.91 million yuan. on june 28 this year, the people's procuratorate of pudong new area, shanghai, filed a public prosecution against 13 criminal suspects of the gang for suspected fraud.

the prosecutor reminded: the criminal suspects took advantage of the victims' desire to get rich overnight. after being deceived, many victims still believed that they had simply failed in investment, so the reporting rate of such cases was not high. i hope that the general public will learn from this case, open their eyes, be wary of live broadcast gambling stone scams, and protect their wallets.
