in the vast xinjiang, liuxing street community is just one of the thousands of ordinary communities. located in yining, xinjiang, liuxing street was built in the mid-1930s (1934-1936). it is home to residents of 13 ethnic groups including han, uyghur, kazakh, russian, hui, etc. it is a microcosm of xinjiang's multi-ethnic neighborhoods.
the documentary "cherished place" takes the people on this land as the subject. during the one-year resident shooting, the calm and passionate stories are captured one by one. in a real but not dramatic style, it objectively and meticulously tells the daily life of the people in the multi-ethnic community of liuxing street, and tells their deep love for life, and their cherishment and attachment to this land.

nurshati ibrayin was born and raised on liuxing street and now makes a living as a taxi driver. his wife adila runs a small shop at home on liuxing street. this hardworking middle-aged uyghur couple takes care of their three daughters to the best of their ability, expressing their love and companionship in their own ways in their daily lives, which are both bitter and sweet.
zhao yue, a girl of han nationality, always hopes to take good care of everyone around her. already a mother of two children, she and her like-minded best friend zhao xiaohui opened a vintage clothing store on liuxing street. in the tug of war between family and career, responsibility and self, zhao yue strives to maintain her own direction in life.
in the light and shadow of each frame, "a place to remember" shows the passage of time, using real and natural shooting techniques to see the beauty in the ordinary.
