on september 9, 2024, helio, one of the global leaders in the health field, released the "2024 china active health insight report" at the 24th china international investment and trade fair (hereinafter referred to as "ciftis"). the report surveyed more than 1,000 respondents in 161 cities, and the survey projects involved the health perception, active health behavior performance and influencing factors of eight representative groups. the release of this insight report aims to strengthen the public's attention and awareness of "active health" through in-depth analysis of the public's health behavior, and enhance their understanding of active health methods, products and approaches, so as to become the first person responsible for their own health and make health more accessible, more inclusive and more sustainable.
the cifit is hosted by the ministry of commerce and is one of the most influential international investment events in the world. this year's cifit is themed "investment connects the world" and has attracted more than 300 industrial and commercial groups and delegations from more than 90 countries and regions. at the meeting, fu yue, vice president of helian china and head of corporate affairs, interpreted the insight report and announced that helian will continue to invest in the future to implement the corporate mission of "people-oriented, improving daily health" and help realize the beautiful vision of "healthy china".

a new concept of active health was proposed, and four major findings depicted the overall active health status of the nation
the "14th five-year plan" national health plan advocates the concept of active health. active health is the key to allowing the public to enjoy health throughout their life cycle as much as possible and to make health more equitable and accessible. helian combines the views of experts in various fields to propose a new concept of "active health" that is contemporary and exemplary: individuals independently decide to take measures to promote health, prevent diseases, and maintain health for the purpose of health.
helian released the active health insight report, which has four major findings on the overall situation of active health of the people. first, there is a "37 rule" for active health: nearly 70% of active health comes from a good lifestyle, while active participation in health measures and active medical treatment only account for 30%; more than 70% of the respondents believe that they can achieve active health, but less than one-third of them can really stick to it for a long time. in this regard, the report carefully analyzes the various factors that hinder active health: economy, time, knowledge limitations, product supply, psychological barriers, etc. this also reminds us that my country still has a long way to go on the road to fully realizing active health.
on the other hand, what drives people's proactive health behaviors? the report shows that compared with the sense of health threats such as diseases, multiple health benefits, such as "improving the quality of life in the future" and "having better life achievements", can better promote the public to take proactive health behaviors, which means that taking proactive health behaviors is often regarded as an investment in the future.
finally, what is very characteristic of chinese culture is that family is an important factor affecting people's proactive health behavior. nearly half of the respondents said that their family's companionship and support are the driving force for them to actively adhere to proactive health. at the same time, the study observed that family factors also affected their sense of health efficacy, that is, the level of confidence in self-assessment of proactive health behavior.
from 25 to 65 years old, eight groups of people have insights into personalized needs
different stages of life will bring different health challenges and different typical manifestations of active health. this study covers 161 cities from first-tier to fifth-tier cities in the popular sense, and spans eight groups of people from 25 to 65 years old with different family life forms: young people in the workplace, young and middle-aged dinks, fathers of children, mothers of children, new silver-haired men, new silver-haired women, empty-nest and non-empty-nest elderly, reflecting full representativeness of the population.
existhealth performancein terms of health, young and middle-aged dinks are the "health proactive group" - in the majority of responses based on a good lifestyle, actively taking health measures, and seeking medical treatment in a timely manner and following doctor's advice, the proportion of dinks who self-assessed that they "always do it" ranks among the top; while newbies in the workplace tend to ignore health issues. for example, only 18% of young people can stick to regular and appropriate exercise or activities, unknowingly squandering their health.perceived health benefitsin terms of health, young and middle-aged people attach equal importance to "high-quality life", "higher achievements in life" and "taking better care of family members", while the elderly are more concerned about "not becoming a burden to the family or society". it is worth noting that in many aspects such as "health behavior performance", "perception of health benefits" and "health threats", the scores of empty-nest elderly are lower than those of non-empty-nest elderly, indicating that due to the lack of social and family connections, the lives of empty-nest elderly are in a state of overall contraction, and society needs to give them more attention and care.
exist"health disorders"in terms of ", economic, time and cognitive limitations are the biggest factors that hinder people from taking proactive health behaviors. however, the main obstacles for different groups of people are not the same: young and middle-aged people have a fast pace of life and are mainly limited by time, so they have no time to seek medical treatment; middle-aged and elderly people are more sensitive to the price of medicines; and it is difficult for empty-nest elderly people to seek medical resources in a timely manner. in terms of "trigger factors", although in general "recommendations from family and friends", "abnormal physical examination reports" and "health problems of people around them" are the most likely to trigger people to take proactive health behaviors, when broken down into different groups, young people are mainly influenced by recommendations and demonstrations from family and friends; parents of children are easily influenced by commercial channels, doctors and hospital channels; and new silver-haired men, in addition to paying attention to physical examination reports, are hardly triggered by other channels and events.
the study also revealed the trust preferences of different groups in health-related information channels: although all groups have a high degree of trust in expert doctors, there are still certain differences between different groups. for example, young people have the highest trust in social media and search engines among all groups, young and middle-aged people have a high degree of trust in internet medical science platforms, and the elderly trust their family and friends more. in addition, channel trust preferences are also affected by the level of the city: compared with low-tier cities, high-tier cities have a higher degree of trust in internet medical service platforms and expert science popularization on authoritative platforms, and are more inclined to use search engines to seek solutions; people in fourth- and fifth-tier cities have a significantly higher degree of trust in the more accessible "drugstore channels" and "relatives and friends" around them than those in first- to third-tier cities.
we will continue to promote health equity and accessibility, and call for the joint construction of a big health ecosystem
it is proposed to "put the protection of people's health in a strategic position of priority development". therefore, helian responds to the "14th five-year national health plan" and promotes active health as a strategic concept. in response to the major findings and revelations of the insight report, helian will be committed to correctly guiding the public's understanding of health, helping the public to break the psychological barriers to pursuing active health, and enhance their awareness and ability of self-health.
as a global leader in consumer health, helion is uniquely positioned to understand and identify social and environmental issues that prevent people from achieving better daily health. helion hopes to leverage its broad business footprint, expertise and products to empower and support people to take control of their own health and well-being and have a positive impact on the world. in china, helion has worked with authoritative institutions, professionals and channel partners to promote improvements in the health policy environment, empower discipline construction, enhance citizens' health literacy, help more people overcome health barriers, promote the accessibility and fairness of health services, and work together to build a "healthy china 2030" through health promotion projects such as the "painless china" campaign, the "bone movement china" campaign and the "healthy teeth china tour".

the insight report has aroused great response among the visitors of the investment and trade fair. the research reveals how to effectively promote the concept of active health, such as continuously strengthening health education and positive public opinion guidance to cultivate the public's active health awareness; and in health education, we must not only keep the alarm bell ringing, but also appropriately magnify the sense of health benefits, and use beautiful family life scenes and higher personal life achievements to inspire everyone to actively invest in health.
the insight report also calls on all sectors of society to work together in guiding companies in related industries to set reasonable prices, strengthening medical insurance management and regulation, speeding up the market access of new drugs, improving the public's self-health literacy, and promoting the sinking of high-quality medical services into the community, so as to better help the public adopt more autonomous health behaviors, jointly build a large health ecosystem, and help realize the beautiful vision of a healthy china.
