located on the bank of the beijing-hangzhou grand canal and in the city's green forest park, the beijing art center will open in 2024. according to reports, since its opening, the beijing art center has held 190 performances of various types, 176 art events, served 109,400 audiences, 135,900 visitors, 467 visiting research teams, and received a total of 256,000 people.

li xiaoyi from the operation and management department of the national center for the performing arts said that the beijing art center plans to arrange 300 performances this year. in terms of performance arrangement, modernity is emphasized, and musicals, modern dance, avant-garde drama, immersive performances and other art categories are introduced to expand new performance scenes and create a place to check in and gather for urban art life that attracts young audiences.

beijing art center and the neighboring beijing grand canal museum and beijing city library are all important public cultural facilities in beijing's sub-center. according to liu ping, the director of the beijing grand canal museum, the number of daily visitors has continued to rise since its opening on december 27, 2023. as of mid-august 2024, it has received more than 1.7 million visitors. on june 27 this year, the "exploring the ancient shu civilization - sanxingdui and jinsha" exhibition opened, setting off a wave of visitors. as of mid-august, the exhibition had been open for more than 50 days and had received 860,000 visitors.
in addition, the beijing grand canal museum has also carried out 44 theme activities such as beijing culture, canal culture, intangible cultural heritage, and national culture, with a total of more than 1,200 young people, children and parents participating, and held 189 cultural activities of various types, with more than 10,000 audiences participating.
