according to the wechat public account of "capital gardening and greening", following the release of a series of lists of wild animals, plants and aquatic organisms this year, the yanqing wild animal and plant atlas has been completed recently, including the "yanqing key protected terrestrial wild vertebrate atlas" and the "yanqing key protected wild plant atlas", which include more than 2,000 photos, of which more than 90% were taken in yanqing, providing scientific basis and data reference for yanqing's biodiversity conservation.
the two atlases were compiled by a team of experts organized by the yanqing district nature reserve management office and the yanqing district gardening and greening bureau. through a combination of pictures and texts, they provide detailed introductions to the chinese name, latin name, classification, morphological characteristics, distribution, protection level, threat level (red list), etc. of each species, providing convenience for readers to identify key protected species.
the yanqing key protected terrestrial wild vertebrate atlas contains a total of 214 key protected wild animals, including 14 mammals, 190 birds and 10 amphibians and reptiles. among them, there are 23 national first-class key protected wild animals, 76 national second-class key protected wild animals, and 115 beijing key protected wild animals.
the yanqing key protected wild plants atlas contains a total of 81 key protected wild plants, including 12 national key protected wild plants and 69 beijing key protected wild plants.
in recent years, yanqing district has continuously carried out observations, investigations, and summaries on terrestrial wild vertebrates, and released relevant lists in 2021 and 2024. in 2023, yanqing district also carried out a special survey on key protected wild plants, which was the first special survey in this field in yanqing district in nearly 19 years. solid investigation work has laid a foundation. this year, the "list of key protected wild plants in yanqing district" and the "list of terrestrial wild vertebrates in yanqing district (2023 edition)" were released, and the atlas was recently compiled.
in the next step, the yanqing district nature reserve management office will continue to conduct in-depth basic resource surveys and biodiversity monitoring, and track and grasp the dynamics of biological resources in the entire district in real time.
