"linglong one" is the world's first commercial modular small reactor that has passed the general safety review of the international atomic energy agency (iaea). it is also a major nuclear power achievement of china's independent innovation after "hualong one".
at the construction site of linglong no. 1, workers are busy. "linglong no. 1 is currently installing the nuclear island internals and the conventional island steam turbine." zeng qiming said that the internals are one of the important main equipment of the nuclear island. its main function is to provide support and positioning for the fuel assembly in the reactor pressure vessel. it is mainly composed of three parts: the basket assembly, the clamping assembly and the clamping cylinder assembly.
zeng qiming said that the interior space of linglong no. 1 is relatively small, and the related equipment is manufactured by different manufacturers, using new technology and new equipment, so the internal installation work is difficult. in order to ensure that the installation work is foolproof, the company prepared the installation plan in advance, sorted out the related work content, and increased the investment in construction resources.
different from traditional nuclear power reactors, linglong no. 1 adopts advanced innovative technologies such as modularization, integration, and miniaturization. "although its plant is small, it has all the necessary equipment and functions like a large reactor." zeng qiming said that the construction cost of linglong no. 1 is reduced as the space is reduced, and it can be flexibly combined according to market demand to meet different power requirements. linglong no. 1 is flexible in deployment and has a wide range of uses. it can realize the combined supply of electricity, heat, water, cold, and steam, and can be used in industrial development, combined heat and power, urban heating, seawater desalination and other scenarios.
after the linglong no. 1 is completed and put into operation, it is expected to generate 1 billion kwh of electricity per year, which can meet the electricity needs of 526,000 households in hainan and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 880,000 tons per year, which is equivalent to planting 7.5 million trees a year.
