beijing news (reporter wu wei) on september 1, the 15th beijing olympic city sports and culture festival run girls, hosted by the beijing olympic city development promotion association and co-organized by the beijing olympic city development promotion center and the changping district people's government, was held at the qikong bridge flower sea and the ming tombs reservoir in changping district. 3,000 female runners participated in the event.

the schedule of this year's run girls women's race is the same as the previous one. the race is 10 miles (about 16 kilometers) long and starts at the famous qikong bridge flower sea in changping. it passes through the 2008 beijing olympic triathlon venue, reservoir east road, reservoir second dam and ends at the qikong bridge flower sea theme park. the race track connects the national forest park with the world cultural heritage and natural landscapes such as changling and dingling.
run girls is another important mass sports event of the 15th beijing olympic city sports and culture festival after the mini triathlon. it is specially designed for female athletes. this event attracted 3,000 female athletes to sign up, with the oldest being 71 and the youngest being 14. among them, there are also foreign female athletes from the united states, russia and other countries.

after intense competition, eight contestants including an yaping, shi yonghong and wang zhen won the top eight places in the run girls women's race. han zirong, member of the party leadership group of the municipal cppcc and executive vice president of the beijing olympic city development promotion association, presented trophies to the winners, and fu xiaohui, secretary of the party leadership group and director of the beijing olympic city development promotion center, presented wreaths to the winners.
