beijing youth daily (reporter zhao tingting) beijing youth daily reporter learned from chaoyang district that the construction of the bahekou flood storage area is being accelerated. after the project is completed, it will further enhance the flood control capabilities of the eastern part of chaoyang district and the urban sub-center area, and add a 6.7-kilometer large-scale ecological landscape corridor with blue and green interweaving to chaoyang district.
the main part of the bahekou flood storage and detention area construction project is located in dongba township and jinzhan township of chaoyang district, across tongzhou district, starting from the second airport expressway and ending at the bahe river estuary where it enters wenyu river. it is 6.7 kilometers long and has a planned flood storage capacity of 3.271 million cubic meters. the project started in late june this year, and is currently underway to clear the river channel, build stone retaining walls, construct plank roads, and remove trees.
the project construction content includes four parts: water conservancy and water ecology, ecological greening, external power supply and pipeline relocation. among them, the water conservancy and water ecology project includes dredging of 6.7 kilometers of river channels, building two new flood storage areas at laohewan and bahekou, and five ship locks and control gates; the ecological greening project will plant 110,000 square meters of aquatic plants and other green areas totaling 156 hectares, as well as greenway slow-moving systems and water replenishment circulation pipelines; the external power supply project will build four new box-type transformers; the pipeline relocation project will relocate power and communication pipelines.
it is understood that the project is a key project of beijing in 2024 and has been included in the list of beijing's "23.7" basin-wide flood post-disaster recovery and reconstruction projects. it is also the largest flood storage area construction project in the central urban area. after completion, it can withstand flood disasters that occur once in 50 years. the project will be put into flood control during the flood season in 2025 to further ensure the flood control safety of chaoyang district. after the completion of the project, it will also add a 6.7-kilometer blue-green large-scale ecological landscape corridor to chaoyang district, adding greenery to the construction of chaoyang district's garden city.
chaoyang district is also making every effort to build a demonstration zone for beijing's garden city. currently, the total number of borderless parks has reached 68. ten urban galleries are being built around workers' stadium and ritan park, and the first phase of a 40-kilometer "five villages and ten parks" greenway is being newly built, gradually forming a spatial pattern with green as the basis, blue and green interweaving, and borderless integration.
beijing youth daily reporter learned that in the second half of the year, chaoyang district will promote the construction of key projects such as the first phase of the chaoyang section of the park ring greenway in the green belt area and the garden-style demonstration block in the ritan area, continue to carry out the "beijing chaoyang garden festival" activities, realize the partial opening of the second phase of wenyu river park, and build chaoping park. in addition, chaoyang district will focus on controlling pm2.5, create a "one microgram" demonstration block, formulate a district-level collaborative innovation pilot implementation plan for pollution reduction and carbon reduction, focus on construction, transportation, consumption, energy, environmental governance and other fields to promote pilot construction, and support enterprises to continuously increase green content.
