the 2024 china international big data industry expo (hereinafter referred to as "big data expo") was held in guiyang, guizhou province from august 28 to 30. the latest data released at the conference showed that the scale of the national data industry will exceed 2 trillion yuan in 2023; there are more than 190,000 data-related companies in my country; among the approximately 2,200 typical data companies in the country, data application companies account for the highest proportion, reaching 24%.

liu liehong, director of the national data bureau, said at the opening ceremony that the data industry will be systematically planned, cultivated and expanded from three aspects: optimizing industrial layout, cultivating diversified business entities and strengthening policy guarantees.

the china digital economy development research report (2024) released by the china academy of information and communications technology at the digital expo shows that in 2023, my country's digital economy will account for 42.8% of gdp, an increase of 1.3 percentage points from the previous year. the digital economy will grow by 7.39% year-on-year in nominal terms, 2.76 percentage points higher than the nominal gdp growth rate in the same period. the contribution rate of digital economic growth to gdp growth will reach 66.45%, effectively supporting the steady growth of the economy. the status and role of the digital economy in the national economy will be further highlighted.
