"i believe that data sharing is the foundation of future big data applications, and it is also the foundation of artificial intelligence services." on august 28, thorsten thorsmann, director general of the international data space association (idsa), delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the 2024 china international big data expo, saying that only when data is shared can algorithms be effective, which is very important for all companies and industries.
thorsten thorsmann believes that data sharing requires trust. the data space is an infrastructure, and all data sharers share a trust mechanism and framework. they jointly create value and innovate services at the information sharing end, while also being interoperable.
"the international data space association has about 200 members from all over the world. members from china are very active. huawei is one of our members and has long been actively involved in international standard-setting activities." thorsten thorsmann said that in the past few years, more connectors and companies have participated in it.
in his view, the challenge now is to ensure that the connected parties can understand each other, share and collaborate on data based on the same standards, and implement data space protocols, "which can help us promote trusted data sharing."
in recent years, the international data space association has been promoting the development of the data space protocol into an international standard. "china has also established a national standard working group and carried out research on sc 38 and sc 42 standards. we mainly focus on sc 38 as a data space management standard, including cloud computing, data space, data distribution platform and other aspects." thorsten thorsmann said that today, the international data space association is moving towards global standards. "i hope that we can work together to share trusted data, develop global standards, and increase the wealth and value of all enterprises and the whole society."
