as previously reported, siwei zhilian is a provider of software and hardware related to smart cockpits. didi plans to sell these assets to siwei zhilian in exchange for the latter's shares. the transaction will value its smart driving and cockpit assets at nearly 500 million yuan (about 70 million us dollars). didi also plans to invest more than 200 million yuan in siwei zhilian, which is losing money.

since the project was launched in 2021, didi has invested more than 10 billion yuan in its electric vehicle business, covering the development of cars, smart driving and smart cockpits. didi had previously promoted an electric vehicle manufacturing project code-named "da vinci", which once had about 2,000 employees. people familiar with the matter said didi has notified employees who may be affected in recent weeks, most of whom are in beijing. a person familiar with the matter added that about 200-300 people will be affected by the asset sale transaction.
