Recently, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions announced the list of candidates selected for the 2024 National Craftsmen Training Program. Chen Keying, chief engineer and skill expert of Wenchang Oilfield Group Operations Company of Zhanjiang Branch of CNOOC Limited, was among them.
"The All-China Federation of Trade Unions has hired relevant mentors for us and has a very complete training program, which has built a good bridge between engineers and craftsmen from major countries. I hope we can play a leading role in the industry, and provide a good driving force for innovation and a role model for mentoring and helping others." Chen Keying said after winning the well-known order.
Keep improving, be dedicated and focused
In 2009, after graduating from China University of Petroleum with a major in oil and gas reserves, Chen Keying joined CNOOC Zhanjiang Branch and was assigned to the Yacheng Gas Field in Sanya City, Hainan Province, the largest offshore cooperative gas field in my country at that time, as a gas production site operator.
Chen Keying, who had been employed for a year, received the first big award in his career - he won the gold medal for oil production operators in the 4th China National Offshore Oil Corporation Vocational Skills Competition. According to him, the competition was a huge test for him. First of all, his work involved gas processing, which was different from oil production. "Gas processing mainly involves dehydration and dehydrocarbonization, and the focus is on pressure and temperature control, while oil processing mainly involves oil-water separation and production water treatment, and the focus is on liquid level changes." Secondly, the examination items are divided into theoretical written tests, group practical exercises, and "5 out of 3" individual items. The knowledge is complicated and covers a wide range, and you need to be proficient in each item.
Looking back, Chen Keying admitted that "it was like returning to the final days of my senior year in high school." Finally, after two months of intensive training on the simulation platform, he went to Tianjin to participate in the finals and won the gold medal.
Chen Keying was particularly impressed by the fact that he was transferred to the production preparation team of the Weizhou cooperative oilfield in 2012 as the chief technical operator. This was the first Sino-foreign cooperative oilfield in CNOOC where the Chinese side was the operator during the development process. In the sprint stage of the development and construction project, it became even more difficult to put the platform into use as scheduled due to the complex process flow and huge construction content: "The major I studied tends to be a comprehensive subject, but the site has high requirements for oilfield knowledge reserves, and I have just become a manager, so it can be said that there are many difficulties."
But Chen Keying never feared difficulties and took the initiative to undertake tasks. As he personally participated in the early construction of the platform and the follow-up inspection before the later production, he personally touched and understood every pipeline on the platform. In order to realize trial production one day earlier and create benefits, he took the initiative to lead the team to work overtime to check potential production problems, and solved the complex problems of the oil platform pipeline by optimizing the design of the process.
Craftsmanship and dedication
In 2016, the first master studio for offshore oil and gas operators in China, Chen Keying Innovation Studio, was established. Over the years, as the leader of the studio, Chen Keying has always stayed on the front line, leading the team to focus on solving offshore platform production problems, and was awarded the title of "Guangdong Model Worker and Craftsman Talent Innovation Studio" by the Guangdong Federation of Trade Unions. Among the more than 950 skills to overcome difficulties, the most difficult one may be my country's first successful independent release of an offshore floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO) in 2022.
In the past, the difficulty of FPSO maintenance lies in the release and reconnection of the single-point system. During the release process, the single-point slip ring deviates from the design center with an accuracy of plus or minus 0.5 meters, which means that the offshore oil 116 must remain "motionless" between the undulating waves, which is as difficult as threading a needle on a trampoline. In addition, the core technology of the single-point mooring system is still in the hands of foreign single-point manufacturers, which has serious technical barriers. In addition, due to the impact of the new coronavirus epidemic, the manufacturer's engineers are unable to come to China for service, which has become a "bottleneck" problem for the dock repair project.
In this context, Chen Keying and his studio quickly set up a single-point autonomous release team, integrated domestic and foreign resources, translated more than 12,000 pages of foreign materials, compiled 3 sets of key technical manuals on single-point release and tie-back, formulated precise construction plans in hours, and repeatedly practiced precise control to ensure "zero mistakes". In the end, the studio independently completed the "untying" and "tying" of the horse for the first time, which not only accumulated valuable experience for the release and tie-back of such single points in China, but also tempered an iron army to protect "national energy security".
As the first master studio for offshore oil and gas operators in China, Chen Keying Innovation Studio has undertaken the important task of training workers in the offshore oil and gas production industry, and has carried out more than 6,500 hours of training, with more than 5,000 trainees. The trainees include high-level skilled talents at all levels, including "old, middle-aged and young", and have trained 3 people who enjoy special government subsidies from the State Council, 1 master craftsman, 9 national technical experts, and 83 technicians and above. A large number of skilled talents have sprung up to fill various positions in increasing reserves and production.
