Haikou, August 27 (Wang Rourou and Zheng Xin) Haikou Customs released statistics on the 27th showing that in the first seven months of this year, Hainan's import and export volume to Africa was 15.89 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 108.2%. Among them, exports were 5.34 billion yuan, an increase of 94.6%; imports were 10.55 billion yuan, an increase of 115.9%.

In the first seven months of this year, Hainan had trade relations with 51 African countries, of which imports and exports to 40 countries achieved positive growth. South Africa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zimbabwe were the top three trading partners.

According to statistics, in the first seven months, mechanical and electrical products accounted for nearly 60% of Hainan's total exports to Africa during the same period. Bulk commodities are Hainan's main imports from Africa, and Africa has now become Hainan's largest source of copper imports.

The 2024 China-Africa Cooperation Forum Summit will be held from September 4 to 6. According to statistics from Haikou Customs, since the formal establishment of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum in 2000, Hainan's import and export volume to Africa has increased from 160 million yuan in that year to 16.34 billion yuan in 2023, an increase of 100.8 times.
