Regarding the punishment by the Chinese Football Association: Zhang Yuning responded on his personal social media:I had given up arguing about the red card, knowing that even if it was a misjudgment, it could not be undone. But being given an additional penalty and being deemed to have committed a violent act was a stain on me and was difficult to accept. I needed to clarify the facts:

1: The ball was developing on the right side, and I was going to grab the ball in the middle. My opponent hugged me to block my progress. I lifted my forearm to push my opponent away to create space for myself. I exerted force diagonally downward without exceeding my shoulder (pushing). At the moment of contact, my opponent's center of gravity lowered, and his neck collided with my forearm, and then he fell to the ground. In the following 2-3 minutes, my opponent kept covering his neck. The announcement determined that I deliberately elbowed my opponent in the face and punished him for violent behavior.
