IT Home reported on August 27 that Google's latest flagship smartphone, the Pixel 9 series, had encountered wireless charging problems shortly after it was launched. According to Tech Issues Today, a large number of complaints about Pixel 9 Pro XL wireless charging problems appeared on the Google Pixel community forum.

Some users said that when the Pixel 9 Pro XL is wirelessly charged using a MagSafe puck and a Mous MagSafe phone case, the phone will exhibit "abnormal behavior", specifically, charging will stop shortly after starting. When charging with a MagSafe Qi charger, charging will be intermittent and the phone will become very hot. In addition, one user listed five wireless chargers that cannot achieve stable charging for the Pixel 9 Pro XL.

Even Google's own second-generation wireless charging stand has this problem. Users say the phone recognizes the charging stand but won't charge. Although the corresponding charging icon appears on the screen, the device isn't actually charging.

Some users said that Google has confirmed that it is working on resolving the abnormal wireless charging problem of the device. Currently, you can only temporarily use a wired charger or try the solution provided by the support team.

It’s worth noting that some Pixel 9 Pro users have also reported similar charging issues, but in smaller numbers.

IT Home noticed that the Pixel 8 Pro had previously had problems with the USB-C charging port, and the Pixel 6 Pro had also encountered similar troubles.

It's unclear when Google will be able to resolve this issue, but it's expected to be fixed via a software update, perhaps in September.
