The "National Digestive Tract Cancer Screening Appropriate Technology Promotion Project" sponsored by the Beijing Integrative Medicine Society and hosted by the Gastrointestinal Ultrasound Branch of the Beijing Integrative Medicine Society has been launched for more than a year since April 2023, and has achieved remarkable results. On this basis, the "Grassroots Ultrasound Capacity Improvement Public Welfare Training Action" has also begun to set sail. The branch will actively organize experts to go down to grassroots medical institutions and work with grassroots doctors to provide abdominal and gastric ultrasound services to patients to improve the screening capabilities of grassroots medical institutions. In addition, the branch will also provide free gastrointestinal ultrasound technology training for grassroots medical personnel, covering theoretical knowledge, operational skills and clinical practice, etc., to improve their screening capabilities and understanding of digestive tract tumors.

In August, when we are waiting for the harvest, the first stop of the training activity was held at Ningxia Kangyuan Zerun Hospital in Yinchuan, Ningxia. This activity was hosted by the Beijing Integrative Medicine Society, organized by the Gastrointestinal Ultrasound Branch of the Beijing Integrative Medicine Society, and co-organized by the Joint Research Center for Liver Diseases.

The event was supported and affirmed by Professor Li Jianguo, Honorary President of the Chinese Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Engineering, the Gastrointestinal Ultrasound Branch of the Beijing Society of Integrative Medicine, and the Ultrasound Department of Peking University People's Hospital. Professor Li not only gave hands-on instruction in the morning, but also personally guided grassroots doctors in the actual operation of abdominal and gastric ultrasound. He also elaborated in detail in the lecture on the "Significance of Abdominal Ultrasound in Digestive System Diagnosis", which was unanimously praised by doctors and patients on site.

During the event, experts and scholars in related fields also gave wonderful lectures and sharing sessions.

Dr. Chen Yan from the Department of Hepatology at Xiyuan Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences shared in depth on the topic of "liver and gallbladder diseases and gastrointestinal dysfunction". She particularly emphasized the importance of this disease in primary care, and discussed the causes, diagnostic methods and TCM syndrome differentiation analysis of the digestive tract symptoms caused by it. Dr. Chen also shared typical clinical cases and treatment experience combining Chinese and Western medicine, providing valuable practical guidance for primary care. At the same time, she also put forward suggestions for TCM care and lifestyle adjustments, aiming to help patients achieve better treatment results and quality of life in the primary care environment. This sharing brought new perspectives and coping strategies to colleagues in primary care.

He emphasized that gastrointestinal ultrasound plays a key role in clinical practice and the daily work of ultrasound doctors, focusing on the screening of tumors, especially for high-incidence tumors such as gastric cancer and intestinal cancer. Professor Li pointed out that through the application of ultrasound technology, my country is expected to reduce the incidence of these tumors, improve survival rates, and reduce mortality. He called on everyone to pay more attention and efforts in this field, and through vivid case ultrasound images, guide primary doctors to capture those subtle signs of tumors during ultrasound examinations.

In addition, Professor Li also discussed the "auxiliary role of gastrointestinal ultrasound in diseases such as cirrhosis", and from a national strategic perspective, discussed with the experts present how primary medical institutions can conduct standardized abdominal ultrasound examinations, especially ultrasound examinations of the digestive tract and initial screening of tumors, in order to improve the level of this work.
