The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Yu Zhouping, directed by Yoshiyuki Kishi, written by Kankuro Miyato, and starred by Masaki Suda. The film's storyline is set in 2020, when the world is in a state of "lockdown" due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Shinsaku (Masaki Suda), a white-collar worker working in a large Tokyo company, is a fisherman who has started remote work due to the pandemic. During this period, Shinsaku fell in love at first sight with a "god-level house" with four bedrooms and one living room in Sanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture, with a monthly rent of 60,000 yen. He decided to try to move here to start a new life, but his arrival was an "outsider" from Tokyo to the people in the town. With his innate positive personality and action, Shinsaku integrated into the local residents with various quirks, and a series of heartwarming stories happened.
The movie "Sunrise Sunset" will be released in Japan in January 2025.
