Recently, at the 2024 Summer Inbound and Outbound Tourism Salon held by Deep Blue Think Tank, the relevant person in charge of the External Exchange Department of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism introduced that as of July this year, Beijing received 1.995 million inbound tourists, a year-on-year increase of 227.9%, showing an accelerated recovery and continued improvement. With the gradual increase in foreign tourists coming to Beijing, the inbound tourism market is showing a trend of individualization and younger development, and the product form is gradually changing from sightseeing tours to in-depth experience tours. Under the change of demand, Beijing is guiding and encouraging the development of new formats of inbound tourism.

Individual customers, younger customers

According to data released on the official website of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Beijing received 1.6187 million foreign tourists from January to July this year, an increase of 237.5% year-on-year. Among them, the largest number of inbound tourists came from the United States, with 216,700. In addition, in terms of the increase in the number of inbound tourists, tourists from source countries such as Indonesia, Spain, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand ranked high, with year-on-year increases of 630.8%, 597.6%, 591.9%, 548.4%, and 445.1%, respectively.

Talking about the changes in the inbound tourism market this year, the relevant person in charge of the International Exchange Department of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism said that with the gradual increase in the number of foreign tourists coming to Beijing, the inbound tourists are showing a trend of individual tourists and younger people. At the same time, the proportion of individual tourists from foreign countries to Beijing has increased from 10% to the current 30%, and the number of tourists aged 25 to 45 has increased.
