On August 15, Sun Mengya, the champion of the women's 500m double rowing event at the 2024 Paris Olympics and a native of Zaozhuang, returned to her hometown in Shandong.
After returning to Shandong, Sun Mengya’s first stop was the Shandong Provincial Water Sports Management Center in Rizhao City. This was the place where she first boarded a kayak after joining the provincial team, and it was also the place where she trained day and night before joining the national team.
On the morning of August 16, students of Zaozhuang Sports School were excited and enthusiastic. They held up banners at the school gate and lined up neatly to welcome Sun Mengya "home". This is Sun Mengya's second stop after returning to Shandong, and it is the "alma mater" where she started her sports career. Many citizens at the scene were delighted and took photos with Sun Mengya and signed autographs.
