Beijing has experienced multiple rounds of rainfall in recent days. Two intelligent systems independently developed by teachers and students of the School of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering of North China Electric Power University have been put into operation in more than 10 villages in Mentougou District, helping local villagers to detect potential flood risks in a timely manner.
During the summer vacation, teachers and students of the practice group of North China Electric Power University went to more than 10 villages for field research, including Xiehejian Village, Chenjiazhuang Village, Shuiyuzui Village in Miaofengshan Town, Mentougou District, Nanxinfang Village, Caodianshui Village, Jiagou Village in Tanzhesi Town, Dongwangping Village and Xiwangping Village in Wangping Town. Through field visits and questionnaires, they collected extensive information on the current flood situation and flood prevention needs in Mentougou District, and obtained specific information on local waterlogging points and areas prone to flash floods.
The School of Hydropower Engineering of North China Electric Power University conducted in-depth research in more than 10 villages in Mentougou DistrictTeam instructor Song Huifei introduced that based on the waterlogging points already released by Beijing and the newly discovered flood risk points during the practice group's investigation, the teachers and students of the practice group developed two intelligent systems based on information technology - a waterlogging point distribution map and real-time dynamic publishing system and a map point marking and gallery management system for areas prone to flash floods.
The waterlogging system includes typical historical waterlogging points, sunken overpass distribution, and newly added waterlogging risk points announced by the Municipal Water Affairs Bureau, and integrates functions such as risk description and knowledge popularization. The flash flood system is used to count the main flash flood-prone points in the local area, including pictures, videos, quantitative descriptions of the disaster site, etc., which can provide early warning information for villagers and help build flood control information.
"The water accumulation system is open to the public." Song Huifei said that villagers can "mark" and "report" water-prone points on the mobile phone system through map positioning, taking photos and uploading them. They can also input text descriptions such as the depth of water accumulation on the road, description of rainstorm intensity, and rainstorm hazard forecasts to help local areas detect potential flood risks in a timely manner.
This summer, the School of Water Resources and Hydropower of North China Electric Power University organized more than 100 teachers and students to carry out social practice with the theme of "Science and Technology to Promote Rural Water Conservancy Revitalization". They closely followed the characteristics of the disciplines and professional expertise, and carried out special practices such as the "Energy for the Country" Mentougou flood status survey and the "Water-Nourished Queshan" science and technology to help rural revitalization.
