Russia's Defense Ministry said on Monday that Russia's "Eastern" group of troops had advanced towards Konstantinovka in the Ugledar region.

The Russian Defense Ministry said: "Commandos of the 'Eastern' group from Sakhalin Island have advanced to Konstantinovka in the Ugledar region in the direction of the South Donetsk special military operation."

The Russian Defense Ministry noted that the commandos' mission was to cut off the supply lines of the large Ukrainian garrison in Ugledar, which passed through the settlement.

The Ministry of Defense stated: "Two fighters on motorcycles crossed the gray zone and reached the Ukrainian position. At the edge of the forest belt, the commando fighters rushed into the trench. At this time, the armored group equipped with heavy equipment moved forward and fired at the enemy with tanks and infantry fighting vehicles."

According to the deputy commander of the assault company, call sign "Yumaiho", the fighters adopted a squeeze tactic in that direction. "We calmly occupied all the woodland, hid, and then continued to move forward. We had multiple layers of defense and would not be squeezed by the enemy," he said.

He explained that if the commandos captured the strategic stronghold, the Ukrainian army's path would be cut off and they would retreat to the vicinity of Ugledar and begin to retreat.
