IT Home reported on August 26 that Apple's annual autumn conference is usually held in September, and this year is no exception. It is expected to release iPhone 16, new AirPods, new Apple Watch and other products on September 10. However, the launch of new products also means the discontinuation of old products. According to 9to5Mac, the following are several Apple products that are expected to be removed from the Apple Store next month.

iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max

Since the launch of the iPhone XS and XR in 2018, Apple has been in the habit of discontinuing its flagship iPhones a year after their release, probably because they are too similar and if users want to save money, Apple would rather they buy entry-level iPhones. Therefore, we are likely to say goodbye to Apple's first titanium iPhone next month.

IT Home noted that the iPhone 15 Pro may also be the last Pro series iPhone with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens, as the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to have a larger display. The blue titanium color of the iPhone 15 Pro is also likely to disappear in the iPhone 16 Pro series.

iPhone 14 Plus

The iPhone 14 Plus is Apple's first entry-level large-screen iPhone, equipped with the same 6.7-inch display and long-lasting battery as the Pro Max series, but at a lower price. The iPhone 14 Plus also re-introduced the "Plus" branding for the first time since the iPhone 8 Plus in 2017.

Last September, Apple discontinued the iPhone 13 mini but continued to sell the iPhone 13, so it may adopt a similar strategy this year, discontinuing the iPhone 14 Plus while the iPhone 14 will continue to be sold for a while.

iPhone 13

Apple launched the iPhone 13 in 2021 with upgrades such as longer battery life, a new camera system, and a smaller notch. However, it is now nearly 3 years old and is the oldest iPhone sold on Apple's official website.

If history repeats itself, the iPhone 13 will also be discontinued, with the iPhone 14 replacing it as the $599 product — at least until the iPhone SE 4 is released.

Apple Watch Series 9, Ultra 2 and SE 2

All three Apple Watch models are expected to be updated next month. The Series 10 is expected to feature a larger (and more efficient) display, a thinner casing, and possibly a new chipset. The Ultra 3 is also expected to get a minor update this year, while the SE 3 is rumored to switch to a plastic casing to keep the price down.

If all Apple Watches are updated, Apple will likely stop selling the current-generation Series 9, Ultra 2, and SE 2 models.

AirPods 2 and AirPods 3

Apple has been selling AirPods 2 since 2019 as an entry-level product that offers all the basic features at an affordable price. Although AirPods 3 were launched in 2021 with spatial audio, better sound quality, and other features, Apple still kept AirPods 2 in the lineup. However, this should change soon.

Next month, Apple is expected to launch two new AirPods 4 models, an entry-level model that will replace the AirPods 2 and a mid-range model that will replace the AirPods 3. The mid-range model is expected to include noise cancellation, a feature that is not available on the existing AirPods 2. With the launch of these two AirPods models, both AirPods 2 and AirPods 3 will likely be discontinued.

iPad mini 6 and iPad 10

Next month, Apple's two cheapest iPads, the iPad mini 6 and iPad 10, should be updated. Although Apple lowered the price of the iPad 10 earlier this year, rumors suggest that it will still be updated this year. Once Apple launches the iPad 11, the iPad 10 may still continue to be sold at a lower price, but it is more likely to be discontinued.

As for the iPad mini, it should also be discontinued early next month. The new model is expected to provide support for Apple Intelligence, more storage space and possible support for Apple Pencil Pro.

If you are considering buying any of these products, it is best to wait until September to decide.
