In recent years, AI technology has developed rapidly and has become a hot topic in the global science and technology field. AI has evolved from a simple academic research to an important force in changing the way people live. However, some people with ulterior motives have turned it into a tool for spreading rumors and making money.
Real Case
In August 2024, a shocking piece of news spread rapidly on the Internet. "Songxi County, Nanping, was hit by severe gale, causing one death in Zaoling Street." This news was illustrated with pictures and even realistic video clips, which attracted a large number of netizens' attention and forwarding. However, after verification by the public security organs, it was found that this was actually an online rumor video fabricated by AI.
After investigation, it was found that the rumor was generated by the publisher Zhou through AI software in order to attract attention and gain traffic. Zhou edited and pieced together pictures and videos to create false information with "pictures", "text" and "sounds", and posted it on the Internet platform, causing adverse social impact.
The public security organs imposed administrative penalties on Zhou in accordance with the law.

Rumormongers take advantage of AI's low cost, high efficiency, and simple operation. By providing keywords, AI software will automatically crawl relevant information on the Internet, using hot news and random online audio and video as materials to mass-produce online rumors and put them on major online platforms to attract attention or monetize traffic. The spread rate and influence of rumors have increased exponentially.
When rumors are disguised as AI, they can not only automatically generate text, but also generate realistic pictures and audio and video, making non-existent scenes come alive and fictional characters seem real. This completely subverts our conventional understanding that "pictures mean truth", making it difficult for us to distinguish the truth from falsehood of online rumors.

Logical analysis is essential: pay attention to the logic of online information. If you find that a piece of information has obvious logical loopholes or contradictions, it is likely to have been tampered with or fabricated.
