The sun rises and shines on the Kribi deepwater port in Cameroon on the Gulf of Guinea. In Ndumale Village, about 25 kilometers from the port, 10-year-old Brian Munger comes to the village primary school to participate in summer extracurricular activities.

This is the first primary school in the ancient village of Ndumale in hundreds of years. With the advancement of the China-Africa cooperation project, transportation here has become more convenient, and solar lighting equipment has been installed in the village primary school and some villagers' homes. China-Africa cooperation has "lit up" this village hidden deep in the rainforest, giving it a new look.

"Thanks to our Chinese brothers, education is a precious gift we can give to our children," said Henry Bikuo, the 58-year-old village chief. There has been no school in the village, and children have to walk at least 9 kilometers to the nearest school. Because of concerns about the safety of children on the way to school and the inability to afford tuition, Bikuo's six children once dropped out of school.

For a long time, China has been action-oriented. From the "Ten Cooperation Plans" to the "Eight Actions" and then to the "Nine Projects", it has taken a series of practical measures in many fields such as infrastructure to provide development assistance to Africa and improve the lives of local people.

In 2020, after completing the construction of a drinking water plant in Ndumale Village, CGCOC Cameroon donated a row of prefabricated houses on the project camp to the villagers. Under the promotion of the village chief, Ndumale Village built the first primary school in the village. The camp meeting room became a classroom, and the project manager's office became a teacher's office.

The principal, Louise Ejengele, said that the school is in the village, so the children have the opportunity to go to school nearby. This year, Chinese friends also installed solar lighting facilities for the school, and she believes that more students will come to school next year.
