Qualcomm acquires Sequans' 4G IoT technology

Qualcomm announced that it has acquired the 4G IoT technology of Sequans, a supplier of 4G and 5G semiconductor solutions for the Internet of Things, through its subsidiary, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a high-performance, low-power solutions provider.The acquisition includes certain employees, assets and licenses and is subject to customary closing conditions, including French regulatory approvals.

Sequans is a designer, developer and supplier of cellular semiconductor solutions for high-volume and critical IoT markets.The addition of Sequans’ 4G IoT technology to Qualcomm’s advanced end-to-end IoT solutions will enhance Qualcomm’s Industrial IoT portfolio and provide a unique opportunity to establish leadership in this space.

Sequans will retain full rights to continue to use the technology commercially through a perpetual license agreement, supporting the company's ability to expand its 4G business and develop its 5G product portfolio.
