The first phase of the finals of the 2024 China Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering Innovation and Creativity Competition Intelligent Manufacturing Competition will officially kick off in Lingang New Area on August 26. The competition focuses on two cutting-edge fields, industrial Internet and industrial artificial intelligence, aiming to stimulate the innovative potential of college students and cultivate high-quality talents that meet the needs of intelligent manufacturing in the new era.
As a national reform and opening-up experimental field and a growth pole for Shanghai's economic development, Lingang New Area has focused on the two missions of opening up and innovation since its inauguration five years ago, forming an institutional opening-up system with "five freedoms and one convenience" as the core, creating a modern frontier industrial system with international competitiveness, and exuding the unique charm of "a young city for young people". The organizers said that the holding of this competition will further promote the close connection and resonance between the frontier industries of Lingang New Area and the scientific and technological innovation resources of universities across the country, attract more outstanding talents and projects from across the country to settle down, accelerate the transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements of universities in Lingang New Area, promote the integration of industry and education, and better serve the construction of Lingang Special Economic Function Zone and modern new city.
It is reported that this intelligent manufacturing competition has attracted nearly a thousand outstanding students from more than 100 universities including Tongji University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Tianjin University, Shandong University, Jilin University, Dalian University of Technology, Hunan University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Shanghai University, and Beijing University of Technology to gather in the Lingang New Area. 197 teams will compete fiercely here to fully demonstrate their cutting-edge concepts, innovative achievements and outstanding practical abilities in the field of intelligent manufacturing, and highlight the style and strength of the new generation of college students.
For the contestants, Lingang New Area is not only a place to showcase their innovative talents, but also a fertile ground to nourish dreams and help realize the dreams of innovation and entrepreneurship. As a frontier of scientific and technological innovation, Lingang New Area has established a full-chain and full-process scientific and technological innovation system covering "basic innovation-application innovation-achievement transformation-technology-based enterprise cultivation", which helps the source innovation of "0 to 1", the acceleration of innovation from "1 to 10", and the accelerated transformation of scientific and technological achievements of "more than 10", and promotes the deep integration of innovation chain, industrial chain, capital chain and talent chain.
It is the fifth anniversary of the establishment of Lingang New Area. In order to respond to the urgent needs of Lingang smart manufacturing enterprises for professional talents, technical research and industrial upgrading, and to promote more than 100 universities and Lingang smart manufacturing enterprises to go to each other in both directions, a series of activities such as school-enterprise roundtable forum and 100 universities visiting Lingang will be held during the competition. During the period, local smart manufacturing enterprises and more than 100 colleges and universities across the country will be organized to discuss core issues such as talent selection and recruitment, customized talent training, and new models of industry-education integration, establish a normal mechanism for school-enterprise cooperation, and inject continuous innovation vitality and talent kinetic energy into the field of Lingang smart manufacturing.
This competition is guided by the Lingang New Area Management Committee of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, hosted by the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineers, and co-organized by Tongji University, Shanghai Lingang Advanced Technology Research Institute of East China Normal University, Dishui Lake International Software School of East China Normal University, Shanghai Xipu Intelligent Systems Co., Ltd. and other institutions.
