Shenzhen used to be famous for electronic products
With the upgrading and transformation of electronic products
The robotics industry is gradually becoming
Shenzhen's new business card for industry
The number of related enterprises ranks first in the country, exceeding 50,000
The total output value of the industrial chain exceeds 170 billion yuan
Data shows that there are 741,700 robot-related companies in China. In the past 10 years, the number of registered companies has been increasing year by year, with a growth rate ranging from 15% to 70%. Last year, 179,100 companies were registered, a year-on-year increase of 29.03%. So far, 111,400 robot-related companies have been registered this year, of which 103,100 were registered in the first seven months.
From a regional perspective, Guangdong Province currently has 141,500 related companies, nearly 50% more than the second place, ranking first. Data show that since surpassing Shanghai for the first time in 2020, Guangdong's industrial robot output has remained the highest in the country for four consecutive years, accounting for about one-third of the national output, fully demonstrating the effectiveness of Guangdong's manufacturing industry in actively implementing the "smart manufacturing" transformation and upgrading. In terms of specific city rankings, Shenzhen ranks first in the number of existing robot-related companies, with as many as 51,100 companies; Guangzhou and Shanghai rank second and third in the country with 45,300 and 36,900 companies respectively.
As early as 2009, Shenzhen established the first robot association in China, the Shenzhen Robot Association. The development of my country's robot industry entered the fast lane after 2015. Around 2015, Shenzhen's robot industry also ushered in a big explosion: Hanyang Technology was established in 2015, and Purdue Robotics, Songling Robotics, and Elephant Robotics were established in 2016.
The "White Paper on the Development of Shenzhen Robot Industry (2023)" released by the Shenzhen Robot Association shows that the total output value of the industrial chain of Shenzhen's robotics industry will be 179.7 billion yuan in 2023, an increase of 8.7% year-on-year compared to 164.4 billion yuan in 2022. Compared with 3.9% in 2022, the growth rate has rebounded significantly, which is much higher than the 3.3% growth rate of the added value of Shenzhen's high-tech manufacturing industry, and close to the growth rate of the added value of Shenzhen's strategic emerging industries (8.8%).
Among the many robot companies in Shenzhen, 3,699 have robot-related patents. A number of leading companies such as UBTECH Robotics, Purdue Technology, Silver Star Intelligence, HiSoft Innovations, and DJI Innovations have outstanding patent applications, demonstrating Shenzhen's strong strength in the research and development of robot technology.
Some of these companies have already gone public. According to data from Tonghuashun, among the current A-share companies, there are four companies whose business scope includes robots and whose registered place of business is in Shenzhen.
Ocean King was founded in 1995 and went public in 2014. Its business scope includes the research and development and sales of intelligent robots;
Yinbaoshan was founded in 2000 and listed in 2015. Its business scope includes the development, production, sales and related technical consulting of intelligent robots;
*ST Heke was established in 2009 and listed in 2016. Its business scope includes the production and processing of robots and related electronic components and structural parts;
Jinaobao was founded in 1994 and listed in 2017. Its business scope includes the design, development, sales, technology transfer and consulting services of industrial robots and other projects.
In terms of stock price performance, compared with the issue price, the latest closing prices of Yinbaoshanxin and Jinaobo have increased by about 90% (before readjustment). In terms of Hong Kong stocks, UBTECH, the "first humanoid robot stock", landed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange at the end of last year.
Wu Xianxing, chief analyst of financial engineering at Tianfeng Securities, said that my country has become the world's largest consumer market for industrial robots since 2013, and the localization of robots has also been continuously improved. The Chinese government attaches great importance to the development of humanoid robots and lists it as one of the strategic emerging industries to be supported. Humanoid robots are expected to develop rapidly, and their downstream markets are expected to expand and penetrate into application fields such as the service industry and manufacturing industry. The market potential may be released at an accelerated pace. According to MarketsandMarkets, the global humanoid robot market size will be US$1.8 billion in 2023 and is expected to reach US$13.8 billion by 2028.
