Beijing police crack down on illegal acts such as "scalpers" illegally occupying and reselling tickets to scenic spots. On August 22, The Paper (www.thepaper.cn) learned from Beijing police that in order to effectively purify the order of the capital's tourism market, Beijing police relied on the summer public security crackdown and rectification campaign to organize criminal investigation, network security, environmental food and drug tourism corps and Dongcheng, Haidian, Tiananmen and other public security bureaus to set up a special working group to focus on "scalpers" illegally occupying and reselling tickets (reservation quotas) for tourist attractions and key universities and other travel-related issues that the public strongly complained about, and to conduct a full-scale online and offline tracing and investigation, and carry out special investigation and crackdown work throughout the chain.

Since the summer vacation, Beijing police have detained 62 people criminally and 117 people administratively, making every effort to maintain the capital's social order and tourism environment. Beijing police said they will maintain a "zero tolerance" policy for crimes that damage Beijing's image and tourism order, resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of tourists, and continue to crack down on illegal acts such as "scalpers" illegally occupying and reselling tickets for scenic spots. Typical cases are as follows:

Case 1: Cracked a case of using illegal software to grab and sell tickets to popular attractions

The investigation found that Wang (male, 40 years old) and others illegally grabbed tickets (reservation quotas) for popular attractions through software. The police immediately launched an investigation and evidence collection. On July 23, with the support and cooperation of the public security organs of Xiamen City, Fujian Province, Wang and 8 others were arrested. After investigation, Wang and his wife Wu (female, 32 years old) registered ticketing agencies and travel agencies, opened online stores on the Internet platform, and solicited "agent grabbing" business at prices ranging from 88 yuan to 238 yuan, making illegal profits from it. At present, Wang and 8 others have been criminally detained by the public security organs in accordance with the law, and the case is under further investigation.

Case 2: Cracked a case of selling tickets to popular attractions under the guise of operating a travel agency

While sorting out the police situation and conducting investigations, the police discovered that a travel company was reselling reservations for popular attractions through online stores. After investigation and evidence collection, on August 16, with the support and cooperation of the public security organs of Sanhe City, Hebei Province, the police cracked down on a criminal gang headed by Xu (female, 41 years old) and Zhou (male, 30 years old). After preliminary investigation, the gang used travel agencies as a cover to create stores on multiple Internet platforms to sell tourism products to attract customers, and organized gang members to grab tickets for popular attractions (reservation quotas) in batches through various means and sell them for profit. At present, Xu and 12 others have been criminally detained by the public security organs in accordance with the law, and the case is under further investigation.
