In order to better serve the general public and improve the level of rehabilitation diagnosis and treatment in the three places of "Tongwulang", on the occasion of the 8th National Disability Prevention Day, nine departments including the three local trade unions, health commissions, and human resources and social security bureaus jointly launched the 2024 "Tongwulang" Rehabilitation Skills Competition. 15 contestants who stood out from 146 contestants from 65 medical and health institutions and entered the finals started a "strong showdown" in the sub-center.

In the final, 15 contestants were divided into 3 groups. Based on real rehabilitation scenarios or work situations, they carried out medical consultations, rehabilitation assessments, rehabilitation treatments, traditional Chinese medicine treatments, and on-site Q&A and other related operations for specific cases, demonstrating their professional qualities in theoretical knowledge of rehabilitation medicine, clinical thinking, decision-making ability, comprehensive analysis and judgment ability, and ability to execute common rehabilitation treatment operations.

"Stroke has a higher incidence and disability rate among diseases that require rehabilitation medicine, and a large number of talents are needed. We hope to strengthen exchanges and discover more relevant talents through competition." Wang Zhongwei, deputy director of the Tongzhou District Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, introduced that this competition aims to cultivate more rehabilitation medical talents, improve the rehabilitation medical system, and drive the development of rehabilitation medicine in community health service centers.

According to reports, among the 15 finalists, there are medical workers from medical institutions in the sub-center, such as Beijing Friendship Hospital Tongzhou Branch, Beijing Luhe Hospital, and doctors from Langfang City and Wuqing District, such as Dachang Hui Autonomous County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Hebei Yanda Hospital, and Gaocun Town Health Center in Wuqing District. After on-site evaluation by the experts of the judging team, three first prizes, five second prizes, and seven third prizes were selected from the contestants, and 10 outstanding organizing units were selected.

"This competition gave me the opportunity to systematically learn and summarize the relevant knowledge of stroke rehabilitation treatment, and expanded my work field." said Liu Xu, a rehabilitation therapist in the Rehabilitation Department of Beijing Friendship Hospital Tongzhou Branch and the first prize winner of the competition.

Chen Changchun, secretary of the district committee's health and health work committee, said that as the 10th anniversary of the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei comes, this competition is an important measure for the health systems of the three places to further achieve homogeneity of rehabilitation technology, grading of disease rehabilitation, routine of two-way referral, and maximization of resource utilization, laying a good foundation for further cooperation in the rehabilitation medical work of "Tongwulang".
