Yesterday, the 5-day 2024 World Robot Conference opened in Beijing. With the theme of "Co-cultivating New Quality Productivity and Sharing an Intelligent New Future", the conference held forums, expositions, competitions and supporting activities at the same time, and innovative new products and new application scenarios of robots were unveiled one after another.

The 2024 World Robot Conference is divided into three parts: forum, expo and competition. The expo highlights technological innovation and application results. 169 companies will exhibit more than 600 innovative products, including more than 60 first-time new products. 27 humanoid robots will be unveiled at the expo, the most in history. This year's conference has invited 169 leading domestic and foreign robot manufacturers, well-known companies, and industry newcomers to participate in the exhibition. By then, more than 600 innovative products and more than 60 new products such as composite robots, quadruped robots, and health and elderly care service robots will be unveiled, presenting a feast of robot technology to the audience.

It is understood that among the many exhibitors at this year's Robot Expo, Tesla, which is well-known for its electric cars, exhibited its Optimus humanoid robot, Cyber ​​​​off-road travel vehicle, FSD (full self-driving capability) and other products and technologies. Among them, the Optimus humanoid robot made its debut in Beijing. It is understood that the humanoid robot has 28 movable joints throughout its body and 11 degrees of freedom in its hands.

By 2029, China will rank first in the world in terms of humanoid robots

Xu Xiaolan, former vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and president of the China Electronics Society, introduced that my country has now become the world's largest industrial robot market and the world's largest robot producer.

Xu Xiaolan said: "The market sales of industrial robots in China increased from 70,000 sets in 2015 to 316,000 sets last year, with an average annual compound growth rate of 20.7%, accounting for 53.6% of the global total sales in 2023, which is very impressive. The output of industrial robots in my country increased from 33,000 sets in 2015 to 430,000 sets last year, with an average annual compound growth rate of 37.8%, which means that our robots are not only widely used in China, but we also have some production capacity for export, accounting for 72.9% of the global total output."

Currently, the humanoid robot industry is on the eve of a "blowout". Goldman Sachs, an international investment bank, predicts that the humanoid robot market is expected to reach $154 billion by 2035. Tesla CEO Elon Musk predicts that the ratio of humanoid robots to humans will reach at least 1:1, which means that the world will need about 10 to 20 billion humanoid robots.

Not only the global market, but China is also becoming one of the important markets for the development of humanoid robots. According to the "Humanoid Robot Industry Research Report", the scale of China's humanoid robot market will reach about 2.76 billion yuan this year; by 2029, it will reach 75 billion yuan, accounting for 32.7% of the world's total, ranking first in the world; by 2035, the market scale is expected to reach 300 billion yuan. In addition, the country also strongly supports the development of humanoid robot technology at the policy level.

Last year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the "Guiding Opinions on the Innovation and Development of Humanoid Robots", which proposed that by 2025, a humanoid robot innovation system will be initially established, and a number of key technologies such as "brain, cerebellum, and limbs" will achieve breakthroughs, ensuring the phased goal of ensuring the safe and effective supply of core components.
