Bian Shoumin's Album of Flowers and Reeds

Bian Shoumin was quite famous during the reign of Emperor Qianlong and was one of the Eight Masters of Yangzhou. He was good at painting flowers, birds, vegetables and fruits, especially wild geese flying and calling, which were vivid and wild, and were highly valued by people at that time. There are two ways of painting: one is to use a rough brush to express the rich and moist taste, and the other is to use a dry brush with burnt ink, which is dry but moist and has the most elegant taste. This album is the former, depicting wild geese, lotus, daylily, chrysanthemum, etc. The brushwork is simple but vivid.
