BEIJING, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Russian intelligence agencies said the United States and other countries participated in the Ukrainian army's offensive on Kursk, providing military training and intelligence.

Russia's Izvestia newspaper reported on the 21st, citing the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, that according to "reliable information", the security agencies of the United States, Britain and Poland were involved in the preparations for the Kursk offensive by the Ukrainian army; the Ukrainian troops entering Kursk had received training in Britain and Germany;NATOMilitary advisers instructed the Ukrainian troops attacking Kursk on how to coordinate combat and use Western weapons and equipment. In addition, NATO provided Ukraine with satellite reconnaissance intelligence on the deployment of Russian troops in the Kursk region.

The White House previously stated that the United States had no prior knowledge of Ukraine's attack on Kursk.

According to a report by the Russian Satellite News Agency on the 21st, based on the analysis of social media information, personnel from the US private military company "Forward Observation Group" participated in the Ukrainian army's attack on Kursk, and the company joined the Ukrainian army in the initial stage of the escalation of the Ukrainian crisis in 2022. "Forward Observation Group" uploaded a photo on social media last week, showing three members of the group standing in front of a military vehicle fully armed. The text caption and location information of the photo both show that they are in Kursk.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has summoned the Charge d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Russia to strongly protest against the participation of the "Forward Observation Group" personnel in the attack on Kursk and the "illegal entry" of American journalists into the area to conduct "propaganda and reporting" for the Ukrainian side. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that this contradicts the US government's claim that it did not participate in the attack on Kursk, "clearly showing that the United States is a direct participant in this conflict."
