【Pacific Technology News】Recently, detailed information about Qualcomm's new generation flagship mobile chip Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 was exposed online. The chip will use advanced 3nm process to further improve the performance-power ratio. The first release is divided into two versions: SM8750 and SM8750P, the latter may represent the performance version or the baseband-free version.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is equipped with Qualcomm's self-developed Oryon CPU core. Early Geekbench tests show that the chip uses a 2+6 core design, which may include two Oryon cores and six Cortex cores. The specific configuration has not yet been determined. In terms of performance, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4's large core is clocked at 4.09GHz, and single-core and multi-core performance have increased by 35% and 30% respectively, with excellent performance. Equipped with the new Adreno 8 series GPU, graphics performance and energy efficiency have been significantly improved, supporting four-channel LPDDR5X memory, and from the leaked test results, this chip performed better than Apple A17 Pro in the Geekbench 6 test.

The chip integrates a "low power AI" (LPAI) subsystem that specifically handles always-on tasks such as voice, camera, and sensor tracking. It supports millimeter wave and Sub-6GHz 5G (Rel. 17), Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be), Bluetooth 5.4 and UWB (FastConnect 7900), and has a built-in powerful NPU to meet high-load AI computing needs.

It is reported that Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be officially released in October this year. Xiaomi is expected to become the first brand to launch this chip. The Xiaomi 15 series of mobile phones are expected to be the first models equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
