As the main provider of medical and health services in rural my country, the rural doctor system was once known as the "three magic weapons" of my country's rural health work together with the rural three-level medical and health network and the cooperative medical system, and occupies an irreplaceable position in rural areas.

However, with the development of the market economy and the continuous standardization and improvement of the medical system, rural doctors are now facing a series of problems such as difficult work, low income, and poor treatment. In 2010, the National Development and Reform Commission and other departments issued the "Implementation Opinions on Carrying out Free Training of Rural Order-Oriented Medical Students" to train talents for township health centers and below. In April 2023, the National Health Commission and other departments issued the "Notice on Implementing the Special Plan for College Student Rural Doctors", proposing to provide staffing guarantees for college student rural doctors.
