Beijing News (Reporter Chen Lin) On August 20, Assistant Minister of Commerce Tang Wenhong said at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office that driven by projects such as trade promotion, investment-driven, poverty reduction and agricultural benefit, China-Africa investment and trade cooperation has developed steadily. In 2023, China-Africa trade volume reached US$282.1 billion, and China has remained Africa's largest trading partner for 15 consecutive years.

A number of infrastructure and manufacturing projects have been implemented and achieved results, including the Nigerian Lekki Deepwater Port, the Kenyan Nairobi International Airport Toll Expressway, the South African Photovoltaic Power Station, and the Egyptian Home Appliance Factory, and the level of China-Africa industrial chain and supply chain cooperation has been continuously improved.

Driven by green development and digital innovation projects, Chinese companies have implemented a large number of clean energy projects in Africa, and exports of lithium batteries and photovoltaic products to Africa have increased significantly. The China-Africa Satellite Remote Sensing Application Cooperation Center was inaugurated in Beijing. The China-Africa Digital Cooperation Forum was successfully held. China and African countries have jointly built more than 10 bilateral joint laboratories or joint research centers to carry out joint research in the fields of resource remote sensing, renewable energy, and ecological agriculture.

Driven by investment-driven, capacity-building, and cultural exchange projects, China is accelerating the construction of a pilot zone for in-depth China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, and is exploring new models and paths for the integrated development of China-Africa investment and trade through institutional innovation.

The 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit will be held in Beijing from September 4 to 6. China and Africa will share friendship and discuss cooperation plans. China will uphold the policy of "real results, affinity and good faith" towards Africa and the correct concept of justice and interests, expand institutional opening-up to Africa, deepen industrial chain and supply chain cooperation, and better realize China-Africa economic integration, development linkage and sharing of results.
