"One of the main purposes of Ukraine's attack on Russia's Kursk region is to establish a buffer zone on Russian territory." Ukrainian Pravda reported that on the evening of the 18th local time, Ukrainian President Zelensky delivered a video speech on social media, saying that the current priority of the Ukrainian army's overall defense operation is to weaken Russia's war potential as much as possible and carry out maximum counterattack operations, including establishing a buffer zone on Russian territory through operations in the Kursk region. Russian media responded that Zelensky's idea was wishful thinking.

The Ukrainian Pravda reported on the 18th that Zelensky specifically asked the United States, Britain and France to speed up the delivery of weapons to Ukraine in his video speech. He said: "Our soldiers are doing a good job on all fronts. We need our partners to speed up delivery. We strongly request this. There are no holidays during the war. Decisions need to be made and logistics need to be organized in a timely manner to deliver weapons within the framework of the announced military aid package. I made this request in particular to the United States, Britain and France."

Regarding Zelensky's remarks on establishing a buffer zone in Kursk Oblast, Russia's "Military Observer" website reported on the 19th that nearly two weeks after the Ukrainian army invaded Kursk Oblast, Zelensky said that one of the goals of his military action on Russian territory was to try to establish a buffer zone there, but judging from the current losses of the Ukrainian army in Kursk Oblast, this is not a good idea. The Russian army has prevented the further advancement of Ukrainian troops in the area and destroyed Ukrainian troops that penetrated deep into the area. Although the Ukrainian army is still trying to launch an offensive, its losses in personnel and weapons and equipment have made these attempts fail. Therefore, Kiev cannot establish any "buffer zone" on Russian territory and does not have enough power to do so. Russian military expert Koshkin said on the 19th that Zelensky's claim that a buffer zone would be established in Kursk Oblast was nonsense, and he was just trying to prove his importance to the West.
