In response to netizens' inquiries about when doctoral programs will be available, Bengbu Medical University in Anhui Province recently gave an official response.
On August 8, a netizen left a message on the "Leaders' Message Board" of People's Daily Online, asking when Bengbu Medical University would have a doctoral program. In response, Bengbu Medical University replied on August 14 that in the first half of 2024, our school was approved as a key project-granting doctoral degree institution in Anhui Province, and plans to formally apply to the Ministry of Education in early 2027 (the specific time will be implemented according to the Ministry of Education's documents).
The above reply stated that the report of the first party congress of Bengbu Medical University proposed to make the construction of doctoral programs a top priority in discipline construction. The top leaders of the party and government and the responsible leadership team all participated in carrying out special actions around difficult and blocked issues, and made every effort to overcome difficulties and strive to achieve a breakthrough in the construction of doctoral programs. At present, the school has issued a work plan, established a doctoral application work leading group and various special teams, formulated a comprehensive and detailed work plan and reversed timetable for special team scheduling, and made every effort to steadily promote the construction of doctoral awarding units and doctoral programs.
According to the website of Bengbu Medical University, in July 1958, in order to accelerate the construction of Anhui and change the situation of lack of medical care and medicine for the people in northern Anhui, the state decided to establish Bengbu Medical College with the assistance of the former Shanghai Second Medical College (now Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine) and Anhui Medical College (now Anhui Medical University). In November 2023, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was renamed Bengbu Medical University.
In May 2024, the school held the first party congress of Bengbu Medical University, and clearly put forward the goal of building "a domestic first-class and internationally renowned high-level medical university."
