The twin stars of Qingdao Guoxin Aquatic Men's Basketball Team, Yang Hansen and Duan Angjun, went to Australia at the beginning of this month to participate in the NBA Global Elite Training Camp held there. As representatives of young players in China, Yang Hansen and Duan Angjun carry the expectations of many people. Fans hope that the two can improve their competitive level through high-level training and competition. More than ten days have passed, and the two young players have gradually adapted to the training rhythm there and benefited a lot from the high-intensity training. In a chat with Peninsula reporters, the two revealed their respective gains and growth.

Focus on basic skills and pay attention to training attitude

Yang Hansen and Duan Angjun left for Australia on the 8th of this month. They participated in the NBA Global Elite Training Camp jointly launched by the NBA and the Australian Basketball Association. They trained and competed with more than 20 young basketball talents from all over the world, which not only improved their skills but also broadened their horizons.

In the more than ten days since arriving in Australia, Yang Hansen and Duan Angjun have been maintaining a rhythm of two training sessions a day, and have also participated in some competitions. In order to allow the two young men to better devote themselves to training and to solve the problems they encounter in life, Qingdao Guoxin Men's Basketball Club also specially arranged for the first-team translator Liu Yucheng to travel with Duan Angjun and Yang Hansen.

"The training camp here mainly focuses on practicing basic skills. The coach specifically corrected the shooting defects exposed by Yang Hansen and Duan Angjun, such as standardizing Yang Hansen's shooting hand shape and enhancing Duan Angjun's jump shot stability." Liu Yucheng introduced to reporters.

The NBA Global Elite Program Training Center project was jointly launched by the NBA and the Australian Basketball Association in 2017. The purpose is to discover and help the world's top basketball reserve talents grow rapidly. So far, it has trained many current and former NBA players. It is understood that the two coaches Nathan and Marty, who are mainly responsible for the training plan of Yang Hansen and Duan Angjun, both have rich coaching experience. Among them, Marty was selected for the Australian national team when he was a player, and coached in the NCAA (American College League) for nearly 20 years after retiring.

When talking about his personal gains, Duan Angjun said that this trip to Australia broadened his horizons, especially giving him a deeper understanding of the styles of European and American basketball. "I have made great improvements in the fluency of my shooting power, the stability of my shooting, and the fixation of my hand shape. I am also deeply impressed by the training attitude of the players here. Overall, I have gained a lot."

Xiao Yang will report to the national team soon

Yang Hansen went to Australia for special training this time. He was called up by the national team in advance. He made this trip to Australia only after getting special approval from the national team coaching staff. So after finishing the overseas special training, Xiao Yang will report to the national team. This summer is quite fulfilling for the 19-year-old Yang Hansen.

Yang Hansen has always been seen by the outside world as the next Chinese player who can really make it to the NBA. This time, participating in the NBA Global Elite Training Camp can be regarded as a preview of the competitive atmosphere. Currently, he is training with young players from Australia, New Zealand, and African descent. Yang Hansen's talent is still relatively outstanding among the newcomers, and the coach in charge of training also has a very high evaluation of Xiao Yang.

"The coaches here pay close attention to every movement and correct me repeatedly. I have learned a lot in shooting, especially in terms of shooting hand shape and stability," Yang Hansen concluded.

For Yang Hansen and Duan Angjun, this overseas special training not only improved their on-court skills, but also strengthened their off-court language skills. Whether communicating with teammates and coaches or encountering some problems in life that need to be solved by themselves, the two of them have to face them actively, which forces them to speak. These improvements will be of great benefit to the future of young players.

According to the plan, the two's overseas special training will end on the 23rd of this month. After returning to China, Yang Hansen will go directly to Beijing to report to the national team, while Duan Angjun will return to Qingdao. The basketball vacation of the "twin stars" is still going on.
