IT Home reported on August 20 that Apple re-released the iOS 17.6.1 update today (August 19), a week and a half after the initial release. The latest version is 21G101, higher than the previous version number 21G93.

iPhone and iPad devices that are eligible for the upgrade can visit Settings > General > Software Update to download the latest update via OTA.

IT Home checked the iOS/iPadOS 17.6.1 update log. Apple wrote: "This update includes important bug fixes and resolves an issue where advanced data protection cannot be enabled or disabled." It is not clear what the difference is between the new and old versions.

Apple's official website describes iCloud Advanced Data Protection as follows:

iCloud Advanced Data Protection provides our highest level of cloud data security and protects most of your iCloud data with end-to-end encryption. iCloud Advanced Data Protection is an optional setting that provides Apple's highest level of cloud data security. If users choose to enable Advanced Data Protection, most of your iCloud data (including iCloud backup, photos, notes, and more) will be protected by end-to-end encryption. No one else, not even Apple, can access your end-to-end encrypted data, and it is safe even if a data breach occurs in the cloud.

Apple said that in iOS/iPadOS 17.6, users tried to turn off the feature. Although the interface showed that it was turned off, it was still enabled on iCloud. This update fixed the synchronization problem.

Apple today released tvOS 17.6.1, a minor update to the tvOS 17 operating system released last September. tvOS updates are usually small in size, and tvOS 17.6.1 is no exception. It is not clear what specific updates are brought.
