According to Fast Technology on August 20, today, Apple did not bring the iOS 17.6.2 update, but re-released the iOS 17.6.1 upgrade. The version number of this upgrade is 21G101, which is higher than the first version 21G93.

The upgrade log shows that this update contains important bug fixes and resolves an issue where the advanced data protection feature cannot be enabled or disabled.

At present, it is not clear what the difference is between 21G101 and 21G93.

It is understood that when users tried to turn off the advanced data protection function, although it was shown on the interface as turned off, it was still enabled on iCloud. The 17.6.1 upgrade fixed this problem.

Apple's official website introduces iCloud advanced data protection as follows:

iCloud Advanced Data Protection provides our highest level of cloud data security and protects most of your iCloud data with end-to-end encryption.

iCloud Advanced Data Protection is an optional setting that provides Apple's highest level of cloud data security.

If users choose to enable "Advanced Data Protection", most of your iCloud data (including iCloud backup, photos, notes, etc.) will be protected by end-to-end encryption.

Your end-to-end encrypted data cannot be accessed by anyone else, not even Apple, and is safe even in the event of a data breach in the cloud.
