Recently, there have been articles online that hype that "Linglong No. 1" may become the power source of my country's 004 aircraft carrier, and claim that the aircraft carrier reactor improved by "Linglong No. 1" will not be inferior to the United States in technology. In fact, this article, combined with the statement made by the Navy Political Commissar when asked about the 004 power system during this year's two sessions, may have led many people to think that the improved version of "Linglong No. 1" may be the nuclear power source of 004 aircraft carrier! So, can "Linglong No. 1" be used as the nuclear reactor of my country's 004 aircraft carrier? Will 004 be my country's first "nuclear-powered aircraft carrier"?
In fact, from a technical point of view, my country's "Linglong No. 1" is indeed very advanced and compact, with an overall size of only 14 meters high and 8 meters in diameter. The entire core integrates the pressure vessel, evaporator, main pump connection, and cancels the main pipeline. Moreover, since it can not only be built on land, but also on board a ship to become a "floating nuclear power plant", the two keywords "compact" and "shippable" have become the reason why some military fans believe that "Linglong No. 1" can be used on the 004 aircraft carrier, thus realizing my country's dream of having the first "nuclear-powered aircraft carrier" in history!
